Bio: Melissa Schmitz is the founder of WISE HD, a workplace for innovative, sustainable, education and human development. She is a creativity scholar and educator recognized for increasing academic success and motivating educational change. She received a bachelor’s degree in music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee, and a doctorate in educational leadership and management from Drexel University. Dr. Schmitz has over 25 years of experience in education and professional development. In addition, she is an Associate Director of ELaBS, the Education, Learning, and Brain Research Collaborative at Drexel University’s School of Education and author of creativity lessons for Drexel University’s Freddie Reisman Center for Translational Research in Creativity and Motivation. Dr. Schmitz serves on the executive board of the Global Creativity Initiative and partners with a variety of non-profit and community groups near her home in Annapolis, Maryland in support of creativity and innovation.
